Mission: "To preserve an important segment of history - Tinplate Toy Trains - through research, establishment of collecting standards, education, community outreach, and fellowship and to promote the growth and enjoyment of the hobby."

Purpose: "The purposes of the TCA are to further the hobby of collecting tinplate trains by publishing a periodical, by publishing other information for collectors, by establishing standards on descriptions, valuations and the like, by having meetings to provide for the interchange of ideas and information and to promote fellowship among collectors."
